Rochester is a town located in the state of Victoria, Australia and it’s top of the list for tourists and other foreigners visiting Australia. We’ve all seen movies that depict Australian farm life and Rochester stays true to the movies. It’s surrounded by the beautiful Goulburn Murray Waters which is famous for it’s irrigation systems; known as a world first for it’s sophistication!

Getting to Rochester is best done by car or hire vehicle but you can also travel there by rail or bus although these services do not run every day. The town is home to almost 2500 people, so don’t expect the same level of services as you do in the city regions of Australia. That’s not to say that the locals won’t be most accommodating, in fact, people from Rochester are very hospitable to visitors in their local area.

If you love fishing, why not toss in a line and try your luck at catching some local cod and river bream. Once you’ve caught your fish, it’s time to crack open a beer and enjoy a BBQ with the locals. If you don’t know how to clean and cook your fish, the local fishermen will be more than happy to teach you how. It’s a great experience for you and the family.

Accommodation is very cheap in Rochester so don’t be surprised if you decide to stay for a week or longer. Just remember to book well in advance as motels only have limited capacity due to the towns size.
